I haven’t discussed too many of them on the blog yet, but I’m always trying to keep my toddler busy with projects and activities; many of them are arts or craft projects. This weekend we had some friends over the house that do not have any kids yet, and we were talking about some of the projects I’ve been doing with my little one and she asked “how do you come up with all these ideas? I never could.” To which I responded, “Of course you could. Necessity is the mother of invention and when you are trying to get something done or just keep your sanity- entertainment for a toddler is a necessity”.

We all, (well not me, but most people), love Halloween. The decorations, the costumes, the candy, the fun with family and friends. For those of you with kids I’m sure you are already thinking about what to do with all the candy, and how to limit it. I was very surprised to hear that my daughter’s preschool wouldn’t be having sweet treats during their Halloween party; because it will be taking place only hours before all the children head out trick-or-treating and the sugar high really starts. After the idea had some time to set in I’m actually all for it. The kids are going to be so excited to be in their costumes and have their parents at school, no one is going to miss the sweets. Not to mention that later that night when I’m trying to keep count of how much candy she’s had I don’t have to worry about how much she had earlier in the day too. On a personal note, I’m also excited for the challenge to come up with something just as creative, fun and tasty as the sweet options that I wouldn’t be making.
Honestly, Halloween is not my favorite holiday. I usually spend it at home with the lights off in avoidance. Now that we have a child, I’m going to have to get over that. I was happy to be living out of the country for the last two years where there was no Halloween, but I have no way out of it this year.
We have a full arsenal of baby and toddler carriers. They have been our primary means of towing our little one and we have been very happy with almost all of them. Do you really need more than one, or even one at all, well of course not. But is it nice to have at least one, and if possible more than one? Well, yes! They each have their own role and do them great. In the early days we loved our Moby Wrap, and for all around use the Ergo is our go-to; but for real adventures it’s the Deuter Kid Comfort II all the way!
Happy first day of school! I’ve been seeing pictures on Facebook over the last couple of weeks with everyone’s children. Each child is cutely holding their first day of school sign announcing their names and grades. All dressed in a picture perfect ensemble- included matching lunchbox and/or backpack. Well this week it was our turn; and it was not picture perfect. I know most of you are probably thinking that behind all those pictures was frantic chaos of trying to get children out of bed and off to school in time. That would have been lovely compared to our morning. So here’s our first day of school story …
According to Wikipedia a purse or handbag “is a handled medium-to-large bag that is often fashionably designed, typically used by women, to hold personal items such as wallet/coins, keys, a mobile phone, books, a pen and paper, cosmetics and jewelry, a hairbrush, contraceptives, or pepper spray.”
Who says Thirsty Thursday is reserved for college kids, and that pizza and beer isn’t appropriate for company – not this girl! In fact a dinner of take-out pizza right out of the box and a cold beer right from the bottle, all consumed while standing around your kitchen, can only be shared among the best of friends.
