Not a Problem! No, really; no problem. When my husband and I decided to have kids there were lots of things we talked about, figured out, and planned out. And then we had the baby and got to start all over again, because the baby hadn’t been briefed on our plans and had some of her own. Well here’s the one thing we decided before we had any children and that didn’t change; we can do anything and everything. Which we have! We just do it differently, of course. We plan more for it, and goodness knows we pack more for it, but we still do it.
When our daughter was 2 months old we moved to Morocco for two years and had an amazing time. During our two years living there we did everything, much of it at a slower pace; but we discovered that the pace which worked best for her also allowed us to have a fuller experience. We found slowing down not only made the whole journey more enjoyable but it was actually a better suited pace to appreciate everything we were doing.
During our two years in Morocco we traveled by plane, train, car and boat. We traveled throughout Morocco, Europe, the Middle East, and into Asia. Including backpacking through Europe for 3 months with only a Eurail pass, 2 backpacks, a stroller, and a toddler. And, we would do it again in a heartbeat.
We’ve come up with lots of tricks and strategies to keep our sanity in every situation, even the unknown ones. We’ve also found some great products that have helped make it all doable. And I’m going to do my best to share some of my favorites. I’m also always up for ‘traveling with kids’ tricks that anyone else has found to be a lifesaver.
