Pizza, Pizza, Pizza!

Pizza

I love pizza, not like children’s menu pizza, but new, experimental, and something different every time pizza. And, while I do love ordering out, it’s much more guilt free (financially and calorie wise) making it at home. It’s also a fun meal to make- not very much work and you can always do something different. Not to mention the homemade version of almost everything is just better (assuming someone else is doing the dishes).
Here are some of my favorites:

Pizza-1

Crust – There are plenty of traditional crust options out there. They range from pre-made; top and cook, dough you can buy and roll out yourself; dough made from a mix; and of course there is always dough made from scratch. I have tried all of these options, except from scratch but I tend to prefer using food which is not intended to be pizza crust. Such as, Rustic Flatbread or even a leftover baguette for personal size pizzas.

BBQ Sauce Pizza – Your favorite BBQ sauce (Smoked Jack Daniels is one of mine), sautéed red onion, chicken (either left overs or rotisserie work well), smoked gouda, mozzarella – Serve with Beer, preferably a local mirco brew.

Pesto Sauce Pizza – Pesto instead of pizza sauce, spinach, kalamata olives, artichoke hearts, sun dried tomatoes, feta, mozzarella, and chicken (optional) – Serve with White Wine, personally I’m a Pinot Grigio fan but anything cold will work.

Pizza-3

Antipasto Pizza – Marinara sauce, artichoke hearts, olives, roasted red peppers, prosciutto, pepper jack and mozzarella cheese. This works great with leftovers from an antipasto platter – Serve with Red Wine, I like a Chianti
